Transition for the 2025 School Year

Welcome. This page holds important information for families wishing to enroll your child at Maiden Gully Primary School for the 2025 school year. It details our School Zone and further important dates regarding the our Foundation (Prep) Transition Program.

Our Foundation (Prep) Transition Program aims to familiarise children and parents with our school facilities, meet the Prep teachers and experience fun, engaging learning activities that introduce them to the environment and structure of school.

Key Dates:

Monday 6 May – 2025 Foundation Information Evening 6:30-7:30pm for prospective families for 2025
Throughout Term 2: Prospective 2025 Families are encouraged to contact the school to organise a personalised school tour.
Monday 13-17 May – School Tours running throughout the day during Education Week.
Friday 26 July – Submit an enrolment application for Foundation
Friday 9 August – Families to be notified of the outcome of your enrolment application by this date.
Friday 23 August – If you receive an offer of placement, please contact our school to accept the offer by this date.
Mon 21st October – 6:30-7:30pm 2025 Foundation Information Evening
Tues 12th and Thurs 14th November 10:00-11:00am – Transition Session 1*
Tues 19th and Thurs 21st November 10:00-11:00amTransition Session 2*
Tuesday 10th December, 12:15 – 2pm Statewide Orientation Day
*Transition Sessions: Each 2025 Foundation child will attend two one hour sessions (one each week) in a Foundation classroom. Parents will receive further information about this in early October via mail.

What to do Next:

The Department of Education (DE) has released a new statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Maiden Gully Primary School.
The new timeline will apply for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2025. All government primary schools will follow the timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.

What you need to do:

Ring the Office on 03 5449 6429 to enquire about a Prep Information Package or to book a School Tour at a convenient time.
Download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).
Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by Friday 26 July 2024.
You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 9 August 2024. If you receive an offer of placement, you should contact our school to accept the offer by Friday 23 August 2024
Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2024.

Enrolment applications submitted after 26th July 2024 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Our School Zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

Important Documents

If your child suffers from Asthma, Allergies or Epilepsy, you must have an updated action plan every 12mths that is completed by a GP.
Please print the appropriate Management Plan and have it completed and signed by your child’s GP, then provide a copy to the school with any relevant medication.
